Well, I could not mention Lowe Mill without sharing with you the main reason for my visit last Saturday….to score some FRED BREAD. If you have not had the joy of experiencing the best bread in the land, then you must add this to your Huntsville Bucket List!

The bread comes in incredible flavors:

Jalapeno Cheddar, Pumpkin, Cranberry Walnut, Spinach Feta, Sweet Potato, Bacon, Pineapple and new creations like Black Olive Chipotle and more…..

Who is Fred? His name is Jeff Holloway and he makes his “funky, fresh, fantastic” loaves of artisan bread in the back of a government contractor’s office at the corner of Eustis and Franklin Street in downtown Huntsville often delivering the loaves by bicycle or foot. In a typical week he makes about 300 loaves and 1,200 rolls (Cotton Row restaurant has a standing order).

Where can you find Fred Bread?

» Flying Monkey Artists’ Market at Lowe Mill (12-4pm every Saturday)
» The Little Green Store on Monte Sano
» Harrison Brothers Museum Store on the downtown square
» Happy Tummy at Lowe Mill- (Wednesday- Saturday)
» Beans & Bytes in the lobby of Digium at Research Park (weekdays)

You can also pre-order a day ahead by calling Fred at256-337-4414 or email orders are encouraged and can be filled the following day fred@fredbread.net.

It goes fast, so it is probably a good idea to make that phone call if you want to add that to your Huntsville experiences.
